Many people think that self-storage is only used when people are moving house. This couldn’t be more wrong! At SureStore, we work with a variety of businesses, charities and individuals in a wide range of situations – from companies needing modern offices to people needing more space at home.
We love nothing more than helping amazing businesses to grow and develop, and in this blog, we are looking at Make Some Noise, one of the charities that choose us for their storage needs.
Make Some Noise is an exceptional charity that works with children and young people using music to inspire them and become a catalyst for positive change. To do this, they needed a space to store their musical equipment safely with easy access for all of their musicians. Here is where SureStore came in. We provided them with the secure storage space that they needed to free their homes from instruments and make their work that little bit easier.
To learn more about the Make Some Noise charity and why they decided to store their equipment with us, then read on.
The Charity
Make Some Noise is an amazing musical charity determined to improve children’s lives in the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent area. As music can inspire young people, the Make Some Noise team know that it can become a catalyst for positive change. They believe that children’s lives can be significantly enhanced by having the opportunity to make music and be creative. They explore innovative approaches that work towards better access to music for young people so that everyone can have a possible life-changing musical experience.
The charity develops positive activities and inclusive interventions where specialist musicians work with a variety of people, including babies and toddlers, challenging or excluded children, young carers and their families. They go to a wide range of settings, including schools, theatres, and youth and community venues. Make Some Noise has found that participation in their activities has a positive impact on even the most disengaged and isolated young people.
Since 2001 they have helped over 45,000 children, young people and families in programmes primarily based around the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent area, but they are also active regionally and nationally. Over the years, they have successfully managed music projects as an alternative way to help children, and have built up an incredibly strong reputation for successfully working with over 75 partners.
The Problem
Make Some Noise has a fantastic team of over 40 freelance musicians who work with thousands of children and their families. This requires a lot of musical instruments in a variety of shapes and sizes. It was proving extremely difficult to store them in their homes – plus they often needed to swap and share the instruments so often had to organise handovers. They knew that there must be a better way, so they started looking at options. SureStore was able to offer them the perfect solution – a safe and secure storage unit that was big enough to hold everything they needed. An additional bonus was the ability to use a pin code to enter the unit; all of their musicians are now able to access the unit without needing to meet up or share a physical key.
They knew that they needed to find a facility that had a very high level of security and could be trusted. By choosing SureStore, they could ensure that the instruments used to help improve children’s lives were stored safely.
THE PERKS
John Simmonds, the Program Development Officer at Make Some Noise said, “Using SureStore works well for us as it is safe and secure. It’s always a great experience visiting the facilities, where the staff are welcoming and always happy to help.”
John also commented on how valuable it was that their musicians were able to access the storage facility easily through a code and how it made collecting and dropping off their equipment before and after their events stress-free and straightforward. With the power to choose and monitor who had the code, they were always in control of who could access their unit.
