Who are the SureStore Management Team?

Mike Wilson

After a career in the financial & property sectors, Mike joined Smart Storage in 2007, spending his first six years as CFO developing the business, into one of the leading independent Self Storage operators in the UK. In 2013, Mike became the CEO of Smart, replacing one of the founders, and then subsequently completed a management buyout of the business with funding from Seneca in 2014. Mike and his management team successfully exited Smart in March 2018, allowing them to dedicate their time to the roll-out of SureStore.

Mike was appointed to the Board of the Self-Storage Association UK, in 2015, as a representative for Independent Operators. Mike was appointed as SSA UK Chair in June 2018 for a two year term. Today, Mike remains an active Board member of the SSA UK.

Mike currently leads the operational and strategic direction of SureStore on behalf of all investee storage companies.

Andrew Wood

From 1995, as European Sales Director for a Storage construction company, Andy was responsible for the design and build, project management, sales, business marketing and strategic planning for over 100 storage centres.

Andy co-founded Planet Space Storage in 2003 in Mallorca and developed it to a position of market leader. It provides residential and commercial storage but also specialises in yacht storage. Andy co-founded Storage Boost in 2005 and, having recognised the opportunity to develop storage facilities in the North of England, Storage Boost became an award-winning operator of 3 storage facilities in Cheshire and Staffordshire.

He is active in the European storage industry as a consultant and investor and has extensive experience of operating and constructing storage facilities across Europe. Andy is a Board member of the South Cheshire Chamber and sits on its property board. He also is a Director of Trax Commercial, a property company that provides industrial and office space to SME’s in the North West.

Andy leads on the acquisition and development of the new storage facilities for the Storage Funds.

How Much Storage Do You Need?

It can be difficult to work out how much storage space you need to house all your belongings, which is why we’ve put together our handy size guide. Typically, we find that our valued domestic customers opt for spaces up to 200sqft, but we do have larger and smaller offerings depending on your individual needs.

If you’re undergoing a full house renovation, the below spaces can store the typical contents of the following house sizes:

If you have a 1 or small 2-bedroom house, we would recommend renting a 75sqft space. For those who live in a large 2 or average 3-bedroom home, 100sqft – 150sqft space is recommended. A 4-bedroom house will usually require a 175sqft space. For a 5-bedroom house, we would suggest a 200sqft space.
