Are my goods insured?2023-12-14T12:10:27+00:00

Your goods are not automatically insured, but we do require that they are adequately protected. We accept some policies that you have acquired yourself, providing they are substantial and meet our pre-approved standards.

To make the process more convenient for you, we aim to offer solutions to all your storage needs in one place. This includes offering StoreProtect, which is a service offering specialised Goods Protection for your unit contents while you are in storage.

 

What is StoreProtect?2023-12-14T12:54:55+00:00

StoreProtect is a Goods Protection policy that protects your personal and business goods from any risks when they re stored away from your home or business location in our storage facility. All reputable self-storage facilities regard Goods Protection as a necessity and will not allow you to store your possessions without it.

The following are common events that StoreProtect protects your contents against:

  • Theft and malicious damage.
  • Water damage, including that caused by storms, flooding and burst or leaking pipes.
  • Moth, insects or other vermin emerging from external sources.
  • Earthquakes, lightning and other forms of weather and natural disasters.
  • Damage caused by fire.
  • Aircrafts and articles dropped from aircrafts.

Which types of items does StoreProtect cover

StoreProtect can be used to cover almost any possessions, as long as they do not exceed the cover value. This includes documents, clothing, books, electronics, sports equipment, memorabilia and many other items.

It is always recommended that you keep a record of the items you’re storing, so you can be adequately reimbursed if they are damaged or stolen. This is especially true with high-value items, such as antiques, as it may be necessary to prove they are genuine to ensure you are compensated with their full monetary value.

When does StoreProtect take effect?

As with the majority of self-storage insurance policies, the StoreProtect cover does not go into effect until your possessions have been placed in the storage room. This means that your items are not covered during transit to the storage facility and, once they are removed from it, Goods Protection ceases to be in effect.

If you are transporting your belongings with a moving company and want to be covered, make sure the moving company has Goods in Transit Insurance.

Storage of the following items is not permitted:

  • Food or perishable goods, unless they are securely packed so that they are protected from and do not attract vermin.
  • Birds, fish, animals or any other living creatures.
  • Combustible or flammable materials or liquids such as gas paint, petrol, oil or cleaning solvents.
  • Firearms, explosives, weapons or ammunition.
  • Chemicals, radioactive materials, biological agents, toxic waste, asbestos or other materials of a potentially dangerous nature.
  • Any item which emits any fumes, smells or odour.
  • Any illegal substance, illegal items or goods illegally obtained.
  • Compressed gas.

24 hours access fee

This gives you access to your unit 24 hours a day, seven days a week

Extended hours access fee

Extended access to your unit form 6.00am to 10.00pm, seven days a week.

Standard access hours

Access to your unit during our standard opening hours only. These may vary by store and hours will change over public holiday periods.  Please check at each store but typically standard ours are:

Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm, Saturday 8am to 4pm, Sunday 10am to 3pm

All access levels are subject to some bank holiday changes.

The quoted price is guaranteed for a minimum of 24 weeks, which may include an initial discount price.

Notice of leaving, upsizing or downsizing2020-04-22T03:22:29+01:00

If circumstances change and you need to move your goods to a larger or smaller sized unit, we will help you to do this.

Regarding the termination of your storage service, all we ask is that you provide your facility with 14 days’ notice. This notice period may be longer for larger spaces, and is therefore specified on your storage agreement.

Should I bring anything with me when I move into my space?2023-12-13T16:35:45+00:00

Although we do not require you to provide us with detailed information when using our quick online quote and booking systems in advance of you moving your goods in, it is essential that you provide current photographic ID at some point during the process. This can easily be done through our app on the day you begin using your unit or by presenting them to our reception team.

Acceptable forms of photographic ID include:

  • Drivers licence
  • Passport
What are the SureStore opening times?2020-04-22T03:22:40+01:00

Our opening times are: Mon-Fri: 8am-6pm, Sat: 9am-5pm & Sun: 10am-4pm. (May vary by store). Bank holiday opening hours may vary. If you do require entry outside of these times, it may be possible to arrange access out of hours. This will have to be confirmed with contact to your specific facility.

The list of what is accepted is endless, however, to be sure in the safety and security of the facility, there is a concise list of strictly prohibited items. These include: any illegal substances or illegally obtained goods, firearms, chemicals, compressed gas, combustibles and of course, no living creatures.

Please note that the police and customs can enter any area of SureStore’s managed storage facilities when notifying us first.

Our service-led approach to storage means that you purchase a secured space and associated services, rather than a specific unit. This enables you to benefit from space efficiency over a flexible time period.

There are no additional storage charges; however, your goods must be fully insured, and there is a one-off £10 access fee when you move-in.

Safe and secure storage is a priority to our set of dynamic and practical values. The brand-new facilities are equipped with market-leading security measures including alarm systems and 24/7 CCTV surveillance. Our staff will also be onsite as an added security measure.

Our storage spaces are individually alarmed and monitored by the same 24/7 surveillance. This means in the unlikely event somebody attempts to enter your space, our monitoring station will be contacted immediately and will investigate the matter straight away.

Do I need to pay a deposit or reservation fee?2020-04-22T03:22:58+01:00

Typically your security deposit will be equivalent to the sqft size of your space. For example, if you rent a 75 sqft space, your security deposit will be £75. This may increase for larger space or those of commercial nature. For further details, ask our team in store.
