SureStore Burton Funds Development of Rykneld Primary School’s ‘Nurture Room’

As leading providers of self-storage solutions, we love to form long-lasting relationships with our customers. At SureStore, contributing to the local community around each of our storage facilities is incredibly important to us as a brand.

Recently, we connected with the incredible team of teaching staff at Rykneld Primary School in Burton-on-Trent to assist in the development and refurbishment of their ‘Nurture Room’. The new ‘Nurture Room’ is set to serve as a dedicated space in which staff can support children with social and emotional needs as well as mental health and well-being requirements.

It’s fair to say that over the past few months, with such a substantial shake-up to all of our weekly routines, the ‘new normal’ is having an ongoing impact to many UK residents in a wide range of ways, and perhaps amongst the most vulnerable of those affected are our young children and primary school students. That’s why we were thrilled to donate £5,000 to Rykneld Primary School to aid in their effort to create a calm, welcoming and safe space for young children who need extra care and nurturing during such turbulent times.

Development of the room began prior to the school’s closure during the recent ‘learn from home’ lockdown, having had a thorough re-decoration and soothing colour-changing LED lights installed. Final steps for the Nurture Room include receiving and placing final furnishings and welcoming students to visit and enjoy the room!

Here are some shots of the new nurture room.

In his recent newsletter to parents, Head Teacher Mr. Cruise had this to say:

“You will also be aware that this year, our school has been working towards achieving the National Well Being Award for Schools. The work towards this award has continued during school closure and certain work commenced prior to Covid-19. The school established a strong link with SureStore, the storage warehouse next to our school and they kindly gave the school £5,000 to develop and refurbish our nurture room

We are very excited with the development of this new resource and as you can see from the photographs, it really has transformed this room significantly. Once furnished, it will be a fabulous retreat for our children to learn and benefit in.”

We cannot wait to see and share the final product, especially with those in the Burton-on-Trent community who may have children or young relatives who attend Rykneld Primary School!
